Spirulina is a blue-green algae that grows in salt and fresh water. It contains high amounts of nutrients and protein, and is also rich in antioxidants.
It has many health benefits and is often compared to chlorella, which is another potent superfood. Although the two are similar, they do have their distinctions. Spirulina actually contains more B vitamins, vitamins E, D and C, iron and amino acids. It’s a nutritional powerhouse to say the least.
